Oops, still thin file

How do you get to be twenty-eight and still not have a credit score?

You luck out and have parents who pay for almost all of your college.

You decide to work rather than go to grad school.

You luck out again and never spend any significant length of time unemployed or underemployed.

You spend pretty wisely.

You eke every mile you can out of the 1994 car your parents got for you.

You get so freaked out about the idea of debt that you don't even start using a credit card until you're twenty-five.

You stick your head in the sand, telling yourself that all you have to do is pay off your card every month and you'll be fine.

So, folks: what should I do now? I'm getting another credit card. I don't need a house, a car, a computer, or anything else I can imagine needing a loan for, but should I try to apply for some kind of loan just so I'll have more than one type of credit in my history?

Ah! I hate the way this stupid credit score thing works!

I thinks you should call Marketplace and ask them.
